Ana Beck was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. With both parents being classical voice-teachers, it is no surprise that at the age of fifteen, she was already at home in the recording-studio and on stage. Her first professional work in music was with a vocal group recording jingles for radio and TV. In the same period she was part of Wando’s band as a background vocalist. With this group she toured throughout Brazil.
In 1988 she ventured out to Amsterdam and has since been appearing regularly on stages in and outside of Holland with Brazilian bands such as “Trema Terra”, “Caja Manga”, “Alvorada”, among others. With Alvorada she performed at the Northsea Jazzfestival 1995.
DJ Eddy de Clerc invited her to compose and sing on his CD Bahia Patrol in 2002.
Ana has performed at some of the best festivals in the world, like The North Sea Jazz Festival, the Jazz Festival Curaçao, Sunsplash in Austria, Malta, Croatia, Jakarta and the Techno Parade in Paris. In The Netherlands, besides The North Sea Jazz Festival she was on stage at Amsterdam’s Paradiso and Bimhuis amog many other stages.
In 2005 she was invited to be part of Jobim’s Symphonic Project, arranged by Paulo Jobim (Antonio Jobim’s son) and Mario Adnet, performed with Josee Koning, the famous Metropole Orchestra and Paulo Jobim and Mario Adnet themselves.
Also, the Brazilian musical genius Guinga invited her on stage during his last concert in Rotterdam.
In 2008 she did a series of concerts organized by pianist Ferial Karamat Ali and sponsored by the Brazilian Embassy, with top guitarist Lula Galvão as special guest from Rio de Janeiro.
Ana’s extensive repertoire consists of classics as well as modern works from renowned Brazilian composers and reflects a wide variety of musical styles.
